Robert Piccinini
Bob Piccinini has run California supermarket chain Save Mart since 1985 when he bought a controlling stake from family members in a leveraged buyout.
He is the chairman and CEO of the $4.5 billion (estimated sales) company. His father and uncle founded Save Mart in 1952 in Modesto, CA. The company doubled in size when it bought struggling Albertson's northern California and northern Nevada locations in 2006.
It operates 226 stores under the Save Mart, S-Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx banners. Piccinini, who stepped down as chief executive officer in September, oversaw the transformation of Save Mart from a Central Valley chain into a regional competitor with $4.5 billion in estimated sales.
